I wanted to share with you all a movie I saw over the summer. While out at the mall I ran across this independent director who was promoting a movie he made about bullying.  The movie (which also features the director), takes you into the lives of 3 young men, whose different set of circumstances cause them to cross paths. Their interactions explore how issues of abuse, divorce and even peer pressure can have an effect in their lives and how each plays a key role in the direction of each of their lives.

How can we as a society properly deal with and address the issue of bullying? The movie Big Boys Don’t Cry is the catalyst many of us are looking for.  The proverbial fork in the road is a real one and many are looking for someone to help them decide which way to go. A film such as this one can help those of us in positions of influence with the foundation to get the conversation started.

Seen the movie yet? What did you guys think of it?

I’ll never understand the fascination with weight in this country (and I’ve lived her all my life). It’s one thing to be health conscious, but let’s be honest, RARELY are those who judge the weight of others DOCTORS or (frankly) CONCERNED with your health or well-being!!! Too often it boils down to the superficial ideas surrounding what is pleasing to and individual’s eyes and if that isn’t bad enough, it usually derives from some sort of childhood idea of unrealistic, unmaintainable unattainable, standards that have absolutely no real bearing on the person’s character!

Waiting on the world to grow up ………

Jennifer Lawrence: “I’m considered a fat actress”

Jennifer Lawrence She talked about her weight and the pressures of staying thin in the entertainment business in Elle magazine.
“In Hollywood, I’m obese,” Lawrence said. “I’m considered a fat actress……………..
The actress, who portrayed Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games,” also said she’s not going to starve herself for any film role.
“I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner. That’s something I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong- not thin and underfed,” Lawrence said.

Just when you were ready to write them off as an E True Hollywood story, a few of your most memorable teeny boppers have re-emerged and have it done it with a style and grace that arguably rivals many of today’s seasoned starlets. Selena Gomez, who up until this point was known only as Mrs Bieber, absolutely wowed in a beautifully created nude colored Versace Atelier gown for the premiere of the new movie Spring Breakers.

Not to be outdone was Ms Vanessa Hudgens who I have to admit, seemed to fall into the whatever- happened- to abyss so many of her Disney peers seemed to have fallen victim to (I ain’t saying no names). Needless to say she showed us she’s here and she’s stunningly sophisticated too. Wearing a gorgeous Temperley London dress, she absolutely radiates what happens when you have the good-girl-gone-bad-but-back-to-good down to a freakin science!!

Not for nothing, Ashley Benson of ABC family’s guilty pleasure Pretty Little Liars holds her own looking perfectly stunning in a strapless blue Alberta Ferretti dress

while newcomer Rachel Simon Korine (who is also the star the up and coming movie) daringly dazzles in an elegant mustard yellow floor length number.

All in all, I think it says something when glamour usually seen on veteran Hollywood actresses (ala Oscar/Emmy/Academy season) finds its way onto the younger scene and looking so utterly effortless.
